Introduction to
Site Analysis
Within a tutorial group, we have to produce a series of site analysis in Taman Kanagapuram, a small residential area beside the Old Klang Road. The site has a long history that started at 1957, when it is a rubber estate that owned by the Ceylonese community. Then, along with the economic development, Old Klang Road becomes a important connection hub to Kuala Lumpur for transportation. In 1980s, the population in this area increased, modernization and high land value affected, many low cost flat was built instead of wooden houses for the local residents. These analysis is used for the following project of the proposal of a Day Care Centre.

The site given is an old house that surrounded by many other elderly homes, faced the North-East. Some landmarks besides including primary school, secondary schools, a park, a Hindu quill, a KTM station, a bomba. The roads in front of the site will have transportation problem, during the morning 7am-8am and 6pm peak hours because of the schools nearby. It doesn't have any proper pedestrian paveway, but also some rural and illegal houses at the nearby areas.

Interim Proposal for
Elderly Centre
In the coming years, a greater needs increases in the demand of elderly homes, because the fact of the lifespan of mankind has increased through advances in medical and science. Due to the fast growing population and its establishment as an old neighborhoods where many of the aged are still living in the areas. Therefore, a lot of housing already transferred to elderly homes, and now we have to proposed a day care centre to overcome the insufficient of the facilities of the elderly homes there.

This project is about to design a day care centre with the local land law and following the UBBL and MSI to design a center that best suit the elderly and yet different with others elderly homes. The center limitation in 2-3 storey height with 800 square meters area. To provide a mixed-use facility to accommodate: Entry, lobby, exit, Lounge, Cafe, Kitchen, Entertainment and Social Space (Dance room/ Mini cinema/ Theater/ Activity and Game room), Recreation and Exercise Space )Spa/ Therapy room/ Gymnasium), Library and Reading Rooms, Meditation/ Prayer Room, Caretaker Office and accommodation, Staff area, Outdoor Activities, Caretaker/ Services Access Parking, Consideration for disabled access.

Project 2c-
Center for The Elderly
For the final we have to explore the design solutions that reduce environmental impact utilizing clustered spatial typology and passive energy. The design should contribute to and merge harmoniously with the nature and the site, and provide the best of experience for the users.

My idea is to have a design that makes the individual lonely elderly to creates or make friends in this new center, having a new community, a new life with the best facilities in order to get healthier or happier. Therefore, within a clustered design then have the focal of internal courtyard and centralized circulation, to tend to draw the people to go to outdoor more often. They can chit chat, do exercise and do yoga at the spaces provided. Greenery that surrounded the buildings also will cheer up the elderly. With using the wood and glass as the main materials to creates the soft and warm, comfort atmosphere, besides that the glasses also blurry the boundaries of the outside and inside, encourage the elderly to go to the outdoor.
